Mr Mahendra Kumar Rekhi comes  with a long and illustrious career at State Bank of India. Prior to his retirement in early 2020 he was MD & CEO at SBI Foundation. He has over 34 years across of experience across various functions and is best known as a transformational leader. He has proven abilities in the field of communications and social media. He was instrumental in establishing SBI as the Number-1 bank using social media channels across the BFSI sector all over the world by spearheading strategic and operational functionalities. He is an expert in implementing Marcom Strategies, Crisis Communication and strategically executing PR, Marketing & Brand Building activities by implementing 360 degree Communication strategy. He also has incredible achievements in strategically spearheading Sustainability and CSR initiatives for small to large brands/NGOs/Foundations.

He is known for rolling out flagship programmes viz. SBI Gram Seva, SBI Youth for India Fellowship, SBI Centre of Excellence for Persons with Disability and Covid-19 – Relief Programme as head of SBI Foundation. As head of Social Media team of SBI, he  developed and launched exclusive platform SBI Blog; implemented Chat-bot on corporate website of SBI, conceived and launched first of its kind in the industry an e-Circular-app with facility for audio casting of e-Circulars. Mr Rekhi spearheaded over 3500 branches cheque book maintenance and account opening functions that entailed almost 25% of the total branches of the bank in the country & led a team of 600 staff members as head of Liability Central Processing Centre of SBI
